The closest airport to Chamonix is Geneva which is a 1 hour and 15 minute drive away, Lyon airport is around a 2 hour drive.

Driving
One of the convenient things about Chamonix is how easy it is to drive to. French autoroutes take you right to the edge of Chamonix itself with just the last 5minutes of the journey to our apartment on single lane roads.
Because of the way the ski area’s are distributed within the Chamonix valley you will benefit from having your own vehicle or alternatively booking a hire car from Geneva Airport, you will then have much more freedom to travel to any area in the Chamonix Valley.
Car Hire-Geneva Airport
You can hire cars from the Swiss and French side of Geneva airport. We recommend hiring cars from the Swiss side of the airport. There’s usually only a small increase in cost, the Swiss side is easier to navigate and you avoid having to buy Swiss road tax.

Transfer Services
There is of course always the option of a transfer shuttle service from Geneva airport to our apartment. You can normally pre-book private or shared transfer services with the minimum of fuss and we have had previous guests use these types of transfer services without any problems.
